Dr. Soohyung Yoo received
her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music and Doctor of
Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland. She is a prizewinner of the International Young Artists Piano Competition,
Pinault International Competition, and Artist International Presentations, which resulted to a successful debut recital at Weill Hall in Carnegie Hall.
An avid teacher, Soohyung
has more than 10 years of experience in teaching piano. She has been on the piano faculty at Frederick College, International
School of Music, the University of Maryland, and has maintained an active private piano studio. She enjoys watching her students grow as musicians and tries to plant in each of them a love for music
that will stay with them throughout their lives. Her teaching stresses proper development in technique, music reading, interpretation,
theory, and ear training - important skills for a developing musician. Soohyung believes every student has the potential to
be a good pianist, and brings out the confidence, poise, and musicianship to be that pianist through her passion, encouragement,
and discipline.
Soohyung is a member of Music Teachers Association of California and a teacher for the Carnegie Hall Royal
Conservatory Achievement Program. Interested and eligible students are encouraged to participate in exams, and perform recitals
throughout the year.
